Ah, I did wonder. This is a wonderful article. I think it's one of your best.

I'm not sure if I had a near-death experience - nothing so clear, but I did have a stroke in 2014 during which I was completely calm and enjoyed "hallucinations" in which my long-dead tabby cat Remy came and shoved under the blankets on the stretcher-trolley I was on to keep my right side warm and comfort me.

Yes, the universe is alive and yes, even electrons have souls in their way. Yes, it's a paradox when you try to get the quantum to play nicely with relativity.

However, I think that a paradox is telling you you're not using enough dimensions to solve the puzzle. Look at Escher's prints - the one with an everlasting staircase. Look at a real 3D model of it: from one viewpoint only it looks like the picture. From all the other viewpoints the three dimensions show where the two dimensional pictures are fooling us.
