O Great Bastet, can you answer my question?

I found a roundish thing in my Den which smelled of prey food. Naturally I started to play with it. It rolled quite well so I chased it across the floor, and it bounced down some stairs and under one of the wooden box-things-on-legs. It was too much trouble to get it out so I left it.

A week later there was a bad smell in my Den. My tom Apecat eventually tracked down the bad smell — they have utterly pathetic noses — and used newspaper to pull the roundish thing out from under the wooden thing. It was all covered in fur and spots and went in the bin.

Another similar roundish thing was on the table, so I chased it a little and the tom Apecat made that ha-ha-ha noise. He took the roundish thing and, using one of those Apecat Sharp Tooths, cut it in half. Then he ate half of it and offered the other half to me.

Well, I tried to be polite but it really smelled nasty — sort of fruity and sweet. Yuk! I licked a bit but it was too horrible.

Apecats can eat proper food, especially birds, but they also eat a lot of preyfood.

This is confusing for cats — are Apecats prey or are they predators?
