Biden should have said, “There is nothing we can do NOW to change the trajectory of the pandemic.” If Trump hadn’t been so lazy and obstructive it’s very probable that the trajectory of the pandemic could have been radically changed by early action, just as it was in New Zealand, Australia, Taiwan, Korea etc etc. With a pandemic early action is essential before the virus becomes endemic in the population. Endemic means it’s going to keep on propagating through the population whatever you do. You can stop that happening if you move early. By the time you’ve got 400,000 dead it’s too late.
