Deep Time

Deep time is an ocean, a particle

Here and there spinning all wrong.

Spinning backwards in time, and forwards,

While Entropy sings her harsh song.

*

We’re ignorant apes, proud of our rocks.

In the stars we see… Rents in God’s robe;

An array of indifferent immutable clocks;

A sea of dimensions built around light.

*

Time changes, matter turns infinite.

We’re a fleeting squishy sight.

We yearn for the safety of the finite.

We yearn for the mystery of it all.

We yearn for the stars and fear the Fall.

***

I have no idea what this means. Some poems are like that.
