Great story - and all perfectly possible.

However, I have a few cavills. (Of course I do, why else would I be responding.)

Firstly, the USA still seems to be on course for a Second Civil War. 73 million people seem to believe, on zero evidence, that the election was stolen. Yes, the demographics will eventually deal with most of this white toxicity. However, in the short term, in 2024 I'm still betting on a more intelligent and competent Republican candidate, with the charisma and chutzpah of Trump and his understanding of the Attention Economy, combined with self-control. His authoritarian presidency will lead to the Second Civil War.

Of course, I'm expecting the civil war to start online and then break out into reality.

Secondly, capitalism's terrible Achilles' heel is its systemic need for expansion. We reached the limits of growth some time in the 80s. The digital revolution gave us a whole new virtual world to expand into, but the Earth can't sustain the consumerism that fuels it.

I believe that we must go into space, we must find ways of living there sustainably and ideally move a lot of population there as well. All industries will need to be based in space and with space to expand into, capitalism will once more be a positive, not a negative thing.

In 2100 I would like to see 10 billion humans living happily and sustainably off-planet, 3 billion humans on Earth. We'll need to crack gravity - and no, I don't know how - because we'll need it to breed.

Maybe cracking gravity will give us the beautiful new physics that will give us the stars?
