Both the UK and the USA are classic cases of the rising to ascendancy of fanatical right-wingers with a totalitarian fascist ideology.

There aren't very many of them - maybe a few thousand - but they have influence and therefore success which is orders of magnitude larger than their numbers.

If you look at the Reformation, the French Revolution and the Russian Revolution you can see exactly the same forces at work. You can see them in the American Revolution as well, though slightly less toxic.
