I've come to this article late - I think you're right but you're leaving out some important things.
Firstly you can't trust the graph lines which are projected into the future. Especially the ones about birthrates. The lines tend to crash into other lines (global warming, anyone?) and fall off a cliff.
Secondly, humans really don't like gross inequality, aristo classes and deprivation for ordinary people. They tend to rebel at intervals of roughly 40 years. Usually they lose to the holders of the good weapons but not always and when they win, often they deal with the inequality fairly fast (guillotines).
Chaos is a necessary part of this process.
Thirdly, we will either sort out the Fossil Fuel Traitors pretty quickly or most of us will die - many ecologies are already starting to crumble and when they go that's it for most animals larger than a cat. Read any book about the end-Permian extinction, the Great Dying 251 million years ago - it took 20 million years for the Lady to recover from that but recover she did with a whole new suite of animals.
2050 is far too late.
