Just Stop Oil and the fossil fuel freaks
Why did I join Just Stop Oil? A tiny bunch of mostly white middle class eccentrics, who block roads. Who cares about them?
Well, I don’t want to die and I don’t want my children to die either.
And we will all die, probably of starvation, if we keep on with the insanity of burning more and more gas, oil and coal and dumping more CO2 into the atmosphere every day, every hour.
Let me put it another way.
Say you’re standing on a branch of a tree and you’re really high up. And you’ve got a cute little chainsaw (say a Junior Darling chainsaw which my American father-in-law wanted to give to my six year old son until my mother-in-law luckily squashed the idea). And you stand on the branch, facing the trunk and you start chain-sawing through the branch you’re standing on?
Tum te tum. Vrooom. Everything’s fine. La de la. Neeaaawgrowl. Nothing to worry abou… AAAARGH! THUMP!
Our planet, our only home is heating up. Species are hurrying northwards as fast as they can, except that the Arctic and the Antarctic are warming faster than anywhere else, the tundra is melting, the icesheets of Greenland and the Antarctic are melting.
