Lady Gaia: COP27 have the solution, do they? To climate breakdown?

Me: Probably not, considering how many fossil fuel company lobbyists are running around in Egypt.

Lady Gaia: So the agreement from last year’s COP26 says they will “accelerate measures towards the phase-down of unabated coal power and phase out inefficient fossil fuel subsidies.”

Me: Yes.

Lady Gaia: Has any of that happened?

Me: Er… No.

Lady Gaia: So if you “abate” coal power by a tiny bit, that’s fine. And of course you don’t have to do anything about fossil fuel subsidies, so long as they’re “efficient.” Eh?

Me: Yes.

Lady Gaia: So it means precisely nothing.

Me: Yes.

Lady Gaia: So tell me why you bother with these very expensive, carbon- spewing meetings of important apes in deserts run by petrochemical billionaires?

Me: Last time it wasn’t in a desert, it was in Glasgow.

Lady Gaia: But nothing happened. No coal or gas or oil was phased-down, let alone phased out.

Me: No.

Lady Gaia: And I’m thinking that you’re not holding your breath for this year’s heap of greenwash and marketing junk?

Me: No.

Lady Gaia: And you dare to wonder why I’m trying to work out how to wipe you all out?

Me: No, not really. More coffee?
