My dodgy gas boiler and the AusteriTories
(This is about the UK. You may still want to read it just for laffs. No, really, it’s funny.
Oh yes, in the UK dialect “gas” means methane, not petrol.)
I have a very dodgy gas boiler. To be fair to it, it’s extremely old for a boiler and was almost certainly installed some time in the late 1990s on the council estate I now live on. In that time, the British Government were strangely willing to spend money on ordinary things and so the houses also got double glazing.
Yes, funny you should ask. They were in fact called Labour. They had very strange ideas, I can tell you. In those days the NHS was functioning quite well, nurses weren’t routinely using Food Banks and there was a whole system of nurseries called Sure Start which has been brutally cut back since the AusteriTories got in. I wonder why that would be?
So anyway, enough about the past. I’m looking for a solution to my dodgy gas boiler that doesn’t involve me continuing to burn methane in my home. Yes, funny, isn’t it? Methane is a fossil fuel and a very potent greenhouse gas and I would like it to stop using it.
Also I believe that gas boilers will be obsolete by 2030. That’s what even the AusteriTories have said. Of course they may be lying.
