My Rewilded Garden Part I

My picture. I love the jungliness of it.

My garden is tiny — in the front two tiny terraces

Covered with horrible pointed stones.

In the back a slope going down to the lane

And a potential patio also covered in horrible stones.

Very fashionable round here, I don’t know why -

You need gallons of weedkiller to keep them clear of weeds.

And many of the other front gardens are weedless:

So much labour and poison to make something so sterile.

*

My gardens, front and back, are now a riot of green -

I’ve ignored them since December 2019.

In the front on the left is a plantation

Of ferns with magenta lilies and a young willow.

Purple toadflax and figwort are sprouting,

And pink and mauve flowers that keep my fat

Herds of bumblebees busy.

Some surprising wheat growing in the same pot

With my dwarf plum tree (no plums).

On the right is a tiny meadow with

Dwarf apple and pear trees in pots,

Rosebay willowherb on its way.

Such a jungle to grow in just 18 months!

***

I’m really proud of my garden.

Please buy me a coffee with Ko-fi?
