Naughty Sun

207.

Today the Sun is being naughty.

Today he’s popping his head out and grinning,

Playing peekaboo like a toddler.

In Cornwall, he’s not a serious star,

But flighty and unreliable.

One second he’s smiling at us;

The next he’s run away behind the hills.

One day he’s laughing as the clouds scud by;

Next he’s sulking in a grey blanket fort.

He often pops his head out at dusk and dawn,

Gives us a red and orange and pink shout

So we can admire how clever he is,

Before he trots off to bed.
