One thing is clear: without real democracy, women get handed the shitty end of the stick every time. Look at Texas and Alabama. They've already started the apartheid against women that the Saudis enjoy.

It's tempting to agree with the thesis that democracy is simply too hard for us weak-willed, confused humans to maintain.

And yet people still want democracy and not tyranny.

By the way, could we retire the weasel word "authoritarianism?" What exists in Texas already and is growing in unfortunate countries like the USA and Hungary, is tyranny pure and simple.
