Spirit of Covid

--

79. 8 September 2021

Spirit of Covid, have you finished yet, could we go back to 2019?

No. You can never go back, only forwards.

Ghost of Bat Breath, maybe we could stop having waves?

Certainly. Stop counting sicknesses and deaths.

Tiny Giant of the World, when will you go back to the bats

Or the Wuhan Viral Institute? When will you leave?

You know I won’t. I will be with you forever,

Certainly the next few hundred years.

Unless you humans go extinct, of course.

I am immortal, you are not. I pour through the years,

Shifting and turning to find the next host and the next.

You won’t force me extinct now.

So will you stop wrecking the Earth, Clever Destroyer?

It’s my home too.
