The Horsemen of Democracy's Apocalypse are the same as usual: war, famine, plague and death. Plague jumped the gun a bit, that's all.

There is always a minority who think that a dictator is a great idea, especially if he's their very own Big Daddy. The majority who hate the idea are usually so busy pretending the coup isn't happening that it takes them a year or two to catch up with events. By which time they've lost the initiative and are generally creamed by the dictator's troops.

I'm thinking that Orange 45 will die not long after the disputed election that he will insist he's won, to be succeeded by the far more sinister, younger, religious bigot Pence. It's probably his plan.

Twelve years to collapse, at least.

After that Americans will have experience of a dictatorship and won't be so easy to fool - if they can manage to get back to Democracy at all.
