The Lady Earth has hit us with a perfectly calibrated virus — with a high enough R0 so it can spread easily but with a low enough fatality that we don’t have to die in our millions, not affecting children too badly. The virus is “intended” to destabilise all the nations full of idiots who can’t see that we have to co-operate to deal with the far more dangerous problem of global heating. If the USA does collapse, there will be civil war there. The rest of the world will look on in horror and perhaps countries like the UK and Russia will take a warning from it and mend their ways. If they don’t, they will end up in civil war as well.

It’s almost surreal in its precision.
