Umair, have you just written the opening lines of a new Catechism?
I remember a bit of the old Catholic Catechism that I had to learn in the convent school.
"Who made you?"
"God made me."
"Why did God make you?"
"God made me to know him, love him and serve him in this life and be happy with him in the next."
It fits, doesn't it?
"Who made you?"
"Life made me."
"Why did Life make you?"
"Life made me to know Life, love Life and serve Life."
Of course you can make an argument that Life and God are synonymous, but unfortunately the word "God" has a lot of walking ape baggage which is not only toxic but also mainly rubbish.
I also believe that Life made us walking apes to carry Life to new planets to live on. Only a technological civilization has any chance of doing that and we've got the beginnings of one.
I love what you say near the end of your article.
"If we lived in such a way that we didn’t casually kill off life, then perhaps the answers to our questions would be right there in front of us. Why are we here? To care for life. Who made us? Life did. What is the purpose of us? To give life back to life."
