Umair, I was up until 2 am last night, reading this book:
Nancy MacLean "Democracy in Chains"
It's a history of the right wing economist James Buchanan, the Koch brothers and the conspiracy to destroy American democracy and turn the USA into an oligarchic dictatorship.
Honestly. It's an extraordinary book - very well written, and as far as I can judge, reasonably unbiased (though left-leaning).
America didn't get into this mess by accident. It was planned and fostered by the ultra-rich who believe that the rich should always rule.
Get hold of it and read it. I look forward to reading your take on it.
