Umair, I'm sorry but I think you're too pessimistic. Anyway I don't see people as energetic and canny as Americans taking your scenario lying down.

What I can see happening is massive movements of people who have nothing left to lose. Someone somewhere on the West coast perhaps, will put a message on social media saying something like "March to Washington." And they'll just start - first in cars and then as petrol stations close against them, on foot. Probably only a small proportion will actually make it to Washington but that will still be a few million people.

What happens then is anybody's guess. Will they haul Trump out of his bunker and string him up from a lamp post? Will they be more peacable and just send him to jail for crimes against humanity. Will Trump call out the army - and what will happen then, given that the army don't seem to like him too much.

Yes, it will be a revolution - a true one, not the anti-colonial rebellion of 1776.

Personally I don't like revolutions - they break things and can often lead to rule by psychopaths. But if you treat your people like dirt for long enough, that's what will happen.

Call me an optimist.
