But can you point to any leader who matches up to your picture of a good leader? I can't. Even Mahatma Ghandi was sexist and hated the Dalits. Winston Churchill, despite current Tory attempts to canonise him, was a pretty unpleasant character.
Yes, we need to reinvent leadership as well as everything else, but you will not get a saint like you describe who would be able to handle the politics of getting into a leadership position.
My dad used to say: "The trouble with democracy is that the characteristics that you need to get into a position of power are the opposite of the characteristics you need to rule well. Anyone who's power hungry enough to bid for power should be banned from politics."
