We need to switch to proper regenerative agriculture as fast as we can - because our soils are breaking down as a result of constant applications of inorganic fertiliser. At the moment the guess is that we have maybe 60 harvests left before there is no more topsoil anywhere.
Alternatively we could switch to regenerative agriculture and not starve to death. That's one step on from organic because it builds soil (which also captures carbon) and makes the land more fertile rather than less.
Oddly enough this costs less money than tillage and spreading inorganic fertiliser and pesticides and herbicides over everything and also produces more food. Monsanto invented the lie that organic farming doesn't produce much food - regenerative agriculture done right produces at least as much food as industrial agriculture and often more because of the use of such methods as intercropping. Of course Monsanto invented the lie because they wanted to keep on raking in the cash for industrial farming chemicals and Bayer are continuing the tradition.
