Wind Cat, Wind Kitten

This was Whispers, also known as Cholmondeley (pr Chumley)

Here you come, wind cat, wind kitten,

Jiggling the catflap, running round the kitchen,

Out you go, wind kitten, wind cat,

Knocking over flower pots and buckets.

*

Come on in, wind lynx, wind cat,

Opening the door, running round the house,

Out now please, wind cat, wind lynx,

Go attack the palm trees and the bushes.

*

Go away, wind leopard, wind lynx,

Fight some other person’s house,

Go away, wind lynx, wind leopard,

You’re too strong, my dears.

*

That’s enough! Wind lion, wind leopard,

Don’t burst my windows, break my doors,

Stop it now, wind leopard, wind lion,

Take your teeth out of the roof.

*

Wind tiger, wind lion,

I ask respectfully, please have mercy.

Don’t blow away my car.

Leave what’s left of my roof.

Wind tiger, I’m only a poor ape.

Please have mercy.

*

Wind tiger, wind lion, who is this?

Long extinct, the wind has brought her back.

Huge, sabre-toothed, dagger-pawed,

She will destroy our world.

These poems are about 18 months old. You can find my new poems on Substack.
