Yes, it could. Where Trump is a kind of anti-miracle of the worst aspects of capitalism, this speech is something different. It displays some of the best things about America in only 24 minutes.

Perhaps he watched the Neo-Nazis and realised that they were where neoliberalism had led America - and changed his opinions?

Maybe he has.

This I know from history. Nations can turn on a sixpence. Fascism is not inevitable and nor is decline.

What he is describing will be hard to perform.

But not impossible.
